All the dolls were so inspired this Christmas season to put on a doll play. We have been reading several doll blogs lately and many of them do plays at Christmastime. Seeing as how their bigger besties do one every year as well with their church, the dolls saw it fitting they do one also. There has been a flurry of activity this morning putting together appropriate costumes and who will have to play a boy. Samantha offered to do the part of Joseph because she's the oldest and has gotten to do the most girly things, anyway.
They set up everything outside and begain their performance. The mini dolls narrated because they had stage fright and didn't want to be put on the spot. Mini Caroline started by reading the Bible from the book of Luke: An angel appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the alter of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord."
Zechariah asked the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years?" The angel answered, "You will be silent and not be able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at the proper time."
Mini Caroline continued: "In the sixth month, God sent the angel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to Joseph, a descendant of David. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High."
Mary asked the angel, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?"
The angel answered, " The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."
Mary answered, " I am the Lord's servant. May it be to me as you have said."
Mary left and went to the hill country of Judea. She found Elizabeth and the two rejoiced.
An angel visited Joseph in a dream and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife. The angel told Joseph to name the baby Jesus. Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a Census should be taken of the entire Roman world. Everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to be registered with Mary, who was pledged to marry him and was expecting a child. While they were there the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. At this point mini Caroline got tired and let mini Kaya take over. Kaya went on: And there were sheperds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do no be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
The shepherds hurried off and found Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus lying in a manger.
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi came from the east to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." When King Herod heard this he was greatly disturbed. He knew of the prophecies and did not like this as he was known as king of the Jews. He told the Magi to make a careful search for the child and as soon as they find him to let him know so he may go and worship the baby, too. Herod had no intention of worshiping the child. An angel later appeared to the wise men in a dream to know not to return to King Herod. When the wise found the star they were over joyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. They presented him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Credits:
