A Zoo Like No Other

The dolls were excited to go on a field trip! They each did their hair and helped each other get ready. When they had gathered at the zoo, they began arguing about what to do when a girl walked up to them.
All at once they stopped bickering. “Who are you?” asked Samantha stunned.
“I’m Oliva. This is my zoo” the girl replied.
“Hi, Oliva,” said Maryellen. “Uh, we could use your help. We can’t decide what to see first.”
“Let's see the elephants," said Oliva.
So, the dolls followed Olivia and when they got there Oliva started telling them facts about elephants.
“Elephants use their trunks to suck up water to drink. It can contain up to 8 liters of water. They also use their trunks as a snorkel when swimming.”
Next, they went to the penguins.
Oliva continued, “Penguins jump into the air before diving to swim faster.”
“Let's go to the Mermaids,” Maryellen called as she ran toward some water.
The dolls followed Maryellen.
Oliva began talking. “In European folklore, mermaids were sometimes called sirens. They loved music and often sang.”
“Next to the sheep!” shouted Kirsten.
“Technically the petting zoo," corrected Josefina.
“You knew what I meant.”
The dolls headed to the petting zoo. “Look at the sheep!” cried Kirsten.
“Sheep can remember up to 50 faces! They also know how to self-medicate", said Oliva proudly.
The dolls went to the bunnies. ”A baby bunny is called a kitten, and they need lots of space to be healthy. Rabbits are crepuscular,” said Oliva, ”and cute.”
Next was Maryellen's favorite part. The monkeys! “Ooh, they are so adorable,” Maryellen exclaimed.
"Monkeys are good problem solvers. They have fingerprints just like you.”
Some of the dolls looked at their fingers.
"People eat monkey brains in parts of Africa and China.”
“Ew gross,” cried Josefina backing up.
They went to the alligators and wondered why a flamingo was on top of them.
Then they visited the teddy bears.
“Wild brown bears use rocks as a tool to scratch an itchy spot.”
They headed to the mythical creatures.
“These are the last animals,” said Oliva.
“Bigfoot is nocturnal and is known wild man.”
The dolls went home chatting about their favorite animals. They hoped to see Oliva again soon. All the girls thanked her for her time and went to the gift shop for keepsakes of their zoo adventure.
