A Trip to the Past

I followed the girls to Hagood Mill in SC for a trip into the past. First, they saw a miniature log cabin complete with a little barn and well. Looking at the tools Maryellen wondered how dolls could handle these huge saws. Kirsten explained that her papa used them no problem and that Maryellen should stay back.
Walking around the real farm Maryellen squealed, "What is that box with a pail on top doing in the middle of the farm!?!” Kirsten chuckled then replied, “It’s a well. The pail would have been lowered in the box and come out with water for drinking.”
Next, they went inside a log cabin. Kirsten got excited to see a small rocking chair her size and sat down to see if held her up after all these years. “Maryellen, bring me a cup of tea,” she hollered.
“Not a chance, Bub, "said Maryellen. “I’m look’n for my own food!” She fell into a bowl, “Help! I don’t want to become dinner!”
Kirsten jumped out of the rocking chair and said, “Ooh, it’s a sewing machine like my Mama used to have.”
“That’s a sewing machine?!” said Maryellen, “How did they reach the pedal?”
Just then Josefina called, “Hey, guys, come outside!”
They ran out and saw an outside oven. Maryellen asked, “Is this how we are making lunch?”
Kirsten and Josefina looked at each other and sighed. Kirsten joked, “Yes, and we will get our water here, from this pump.”
Maryellen said, “Ok, but I have to go to the bathroom.” Kirsten led her away... far away and found this:
Maryellen said, "Seriously?” When she got in she screamed, and Josefina chuckled.
When Maryellen got out, she was gasping for breath and said, “A port-a-potty is bad enough but an 1800’s out house could make a doll faint!” 😝 Then they decided to take a little hike in the woods. Then they stopped and chatted awhile. “Come up here for a better look,” said Kirsten. “Wow, it is a pleasant view,” breathed Josefina.
At the end of the trail the girls found a blacksmith shop. Maryellen strained between the bars and said “Quick, let’s get out of here before I melt!”
They all had a wonderful time, but decided it was time to go home. See you next time! 😝

  1. Sounds like the dolls had quite the adventure! Glad they had a place to cool off since the past had no AC.
